Bona Mega is a great middle of the road water based floor finish. It’s rich amber color brings out the richness and grain of the natural wood tones, and it’s design makes it very easy to use. Mega is an oxygen crosslinking polyurethane, which means that it is catalyzed by oxygen, making it very simple to use, just shake and pour, without all of the mixing, and worrying about the extra catalyst. Better yet, there is no waste! Since you don’t have to mix in a catalyst, you will never catalyze too much finish (which later turns into a nice science experiment if you don’t use it all!).
In this video, Rob Johnson from Bona demonstrates how to apply Bona Mega using a Bona Floor Coater (otherwise known as a T-bar). Pouring a line of floor finish down the wall, he tows the finish in a snowplow method, allowing the excess finish to roll off the applicator in the path of the next row. He then gently turns the corner, and moves back to the wall to start the second path. Remember, you don’t need to push, pull, or apply any real pressure to the applicator. Just allow the weight of the applicator put down the correct thickness of finish.
