BonaKemi has worked long and hard over many years to bring a complete system to floor installers and finishers, offering Sanders, Dust Containment Systems, Stains, Finishes, and Maintenance Products. Today I would like to cover a small little part of that system that may bring a new level of quality to your finished floors, the Tampico Brush.

If you read most of Bona’s instructions for their finishes, they state “Use a Tampico Brush on a buffer and vacuum thoroughly” after your standard sanding procedures. While most contractors will vacuum after sanding, using the Tampico Brush on your buffer before vacuuming will get even more dust off the floor, and limit grain raise after your first coat of sealer.

Bona Tampico Brush

The Tampico Brush is a soft hair brush that fits on your buffer, just like a pad driver does. The brushes’ fine bristles will get into the soft grain, especially prominent on woods like Red Oak, White Oak, and Ash, and remove any wood dust that has been pushed down in there during the buffing/screening process. While you will get grain raise no matter what when you use a waterbased sealer, using the Tampico Brush will greatly reduce the amount, and lead to a smoother overall floor and finish.
