Here is a nice demonstration of trowel filling a floor with Timbermate Wood Filler. Using a flat stainless steel trowel, the contractor demonstrates how to apply a thin coat of the filler over an old pine floor. Notice, he wets the grain first with a thoroughly wrung out damp rag. This is so the filler trowels smoothly, and doesn’t dry out and leave excess on the floor.

In the notes of the video, he mentions that this is his second pass of Timbermate on the floor. Remember, with any floor filler that you use, never try to fill large gaps with one pass. While the patch dries, the moisture that is leaving the filler can cuase it to crack or fall in.
